Rock and Roll's sexiest living legend is still rocking out like no other. Her counterparts may be touring simultaneously but Lita Ford is Rock and Roll royalty and she's on fire as she talks with Shockwave's Alex T. White prior to her engagement at Merriweather Post Pavillion July 10th.
Shockwave: So I have heard that you recently had a meeting with Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. Lita: it was only a dinner date, nothing special.
Oh, so then is there any chance of a runaways reunion in the near future?
You know, I’m not sure. I asked joan what she had thought about the idea of a Runaways reunion and she didn’t say anything. I don’t know if it was because she didn’t hear me or what. So the answer to your question is no, not at the moment.
Damn, that’s a shame to hear.
Yeah, I think it would be fun.
I saw you a few years ago at the M-3 Rock Festival and Gary Hoey was playing guitar for you. Do you plan to do anything more with him?
Yes, he actually played on a few songs on my new album called “living like a runaway”. He also helped with producing it. Have you listened to it yet?
I’ve only heard the song entitled “Branded”. It’s really heavy compared to your old stuff.
This album is more or less a story behind some of my past experiences that have really stuck with me through all of these years.
What are you doing to help promote this album?
We are doing a 40 date tour with Def Leppard and Poison to help get the word out about it, as well as selling it on i-tunes.
Do you think that the music biz has gotten any harder, as far as selling albums goes?
Oh yeah, I remember having to actually get in my car and have to drive to the record store in order to buy the album I wanted. And now you can just sit in your chair and buy the album online. It’s crazy man.
I know! Driving to the store and trying to search for the album is half the fun!
(Laughing)-I agree!
I know you and Jim are divorced now, but do you think you will ever do another piece of music with him?
Who knows…
So what’s in the future of Lita Ford?
Just a whole lot of touring and trying to promote the new album, and hanging out with my kids.
Right on Lita, well thanks for doing giving me your time today, it was great talking to you! I hope to see you when you come to Columbia, Maryland.
No problem, I enjoyed it. See ya! |
