As I turned the ignition to my SUV the anticipation of hearing something new overtook me and cellophane wrapping flew everywhere. I popped the cd cover open and away I went into my own world, as many of us do when we are driving, ready to take on the world and the Baltimore area traffic. I slid Distorted Wonderland's self titled album into the system and the rest is history. Well here is how the history sounded to me. The guitar riffs came blaring out of the speakers and the treble wreaked havoc on my ear drums. I found myself hitting the repeat so that I could learn the chorus to "In for a Thrill" and "Never and Nothing". Singing along to these songs playing air drums was as much fun as I have had while driving. Well almost (I will leave you to figure out what was the most fun). The first track "Raised on Rock N Roll" was reminiscent of the long haired bands with heavy beats, high pitched vocals, while being driven by thunderous toms beaten by a f'ing monster. Although the uprising of clean guitar licks framed in the straight ass kicking rock styles of Motley Crue and Winger are coming back into the mainstream, the world may not be ready for Distorted Wonderland. With that being said, if you are one of those people that belt out power ballads and can't wait for the radio's version of the hairball at noon, then this is absolutely the band for you. I mean you have to have this in your catalogue so that you can have the most complete set of pure rock and roll ever imagined. The music is f'ing amazing.
