Nick: I'm good. I'm doing stuff around the house and trying to get this tour stuff lined up. The fun stuff!

The original band was called The Rust and it started back in 2007 or 2008, somewhere around there. All that aside, Throwing Gravity really just formed in the last few years. We ended up changing the name of the band to Throwing Gravity because some 80's band had the name The Rust before and we found out when we started doing all the legal stuff. We had to change the name when we got signed to Universal. We found our drummer at the time on Craig's List as well as our new drummer Eric Bice. Actually Eric found me on Craig's List. Some of the guys that were in the band before had some other opportunities and I told them to go ahead and go. Now Throwing Gravity is what I hope will stay the way it is from here on out. I feel we have some good guys in place. Sam, our bass player now, lived out in California for a while and then moved here about a year ago. Eric just joined about four months ago and so did Adam the guitar player. It's a fairly new line up of guys, but everybody knows their craft and knows what they are supposed to do. We all get along great. It is a solid line up.

Eric was in a couple bands that were signed back in the day. He has done stuff with Saliva and in his earlier years he was with a couple of other bands.

I started trying to sing when I was twelve and it is going on twenty years now. I remember I was not very good at the beginning. I have stuff that will prove that, but I won't let anybody hear it. I started songwriting when I was around fourteen or fifteen. I actually wrote the song "What She Wants" when I was sixteen. That was a long time ago. I was writing and trying to learn my craft basically and I remember my dad coming in and we were just having a conversation because he was listening to me sing. A lot of people in my family are singers. They are not necessarily in bands, but they are in choir or opera and stuff like that. Jon King, our producer, and I have been best friends for years and he kind of helped me hone my craft too as well. It can tire you out singing, but I have gotten used to it and that kind of helped me make things sound a little bit better. I was able to have my voice move around a lot more rather than staying in this zone where it sounds bland.

Thank you, I appreciate that. There is one song that everyone is raving about right now that no one has heard. It is called "Candlelight." We had to re-record four off the Universal record, which was "What She Wants", "Wake Up", "Here We Go Again" and the rest of them are brand new. The song "Candlelight" did not make it to the record. We were playing it live this last tour and everybody was just freaking out over it. Right now we are actually writing and I've got four songs in three days, so it's not too bad. We've been trying in this down time before we head back out on to the road to crank out ten to fifteen new songs. We have other songs too that we have messed with over the years as back up. I'm trying to have a whole record written before Christmas time just to have in our back pocket.

Yes they do. There is one thing that I'm not afraid to admit. I can't do everything by myself. I mean, I could if I wanted to, but it is better to have other people listen to it and get some ideas because I just box myself in real fast. I can crank songs out, but I need other people to help get me out of my shell. Jon King contributed to some writing as well on the record and he also produced it.

I think ten is a solid number for a record. What we write makes it. There is not much excess fat. If there is, we file it away real fast at the beginning. We basically go down the line and decide what is good, what is crap and then basically go from there. The way I approach it is I know ahead of time if there is crap on it and then I just stop. I don't put it out just to put it out.

We are actually talking right now about maybe doing one for "The Inside" and one for "Best Time." We are just kind of weighing the options right now. The three largest songs that everybody loves are "Missing You", "Lost In You" and "Best Time." It is a solid record and going back to the Republic days, when we were going through that process, it seemed like they had the same problem. They couldn't decide which song they wanted to put out as a single. They told us that we have seven singles and I was thinking it was a great problem to have.

The next video that we are doing will have a story and less performance. For that last video we had a large story board, but we just couldn't make it come across the way it should have, so we were like "Let's just go straight live performance." It's a little tougher, especially whenever you are doing it indie style and trying to make it look good.

I agree with you and that is another reason why we need to shoot another video because we have all new members now.

Not yet. I signed with Cherry Lane, which is now BMG right when all that stuff was going down. A month later BMG said "We will take you" and then everybody got fired. Basically I'm stuck on there and they are not going to do anything for me. In the first month there was talk about being placed in the Avengers movie, but that's when all that stuff happened. We have tried to get people to place it, but I don't think it has gotten into the right hands yet.

I would say probably late next year. We are not quite done with this one yet. We still need to do some touring with it. I feel like we need to constantly stay on the road and let these songs speak for themselves.

That is the fun that I'm dealing with today. Right now we are trying to get on an earlier leg of the 12 Stones tour. As of right now we are leaving on September 24th to meet up with them for a few weeks. Other than that, I'm in talks with Blameshift right now trying to get something for two to three weeks in the southern states that will run into November. After that everything kind of shuts down for a minute.

I'd love to tour with the Foo Fighters.

That all depends. We have two festivals that we can possibly play at in September, but if this tour happens then those will not happen. I'm still trying to work out some stuff for next year. We'd love to play at Rock on the Range and stuff like that.
