far If a pure rock album is what you are looking for, then FAR has got you covered with their new album "at night we live".  The vocals supplied by Jonah Matranga are incredible.  There are few true vocalist out there that really grab a hold of my listening ear and this guy happens to be one of them.  With the sounds of 30 Seconds to Mars, but not quite giving the full power of Jared Leto, Jonah can absolutely bring it.  As far as the rest of the band goes, they are tight.  The drums played by Chris Robyn, at times, seem to play off tempo and then catch up, but don't get me wrong this is by design.  The way he plays has you guessing where the next snare and tom hit are coming from.  Now with all the praise comes the heartache.  My knocks against FAR are simplistic in statement but complex in the lack of execution.  This is what I mean;  There is more vocally that Matranga can bring, although I said before they are incredible, I feel like he is holding back and that is disappointing.  There seems to be another level that he isn't allowing himself to reach, on this album, and it may be by direction of the producer, but either way I am not satisfied with it.  Musically, I feel as if I am being teased the whole way through the record.  FAR touches on increasing the strength of the album but then pulls back.  The cut “Fight Song #16,233,241” is a great track full of power but then it's followed up by a let down in the push to continue to build the mood.  I feel I must say this...FAR push your f@#king limits and give us what you can do.  If you are trying to stay away from harder rock strictly by design, stop.  We can see through the smoke screen.  Just play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Now that’s my opinion.
