Holy Shit! Did anyone catch the show on May 13, 2010 at the Powerplant? Well if you missed it, you missed a rockin time. Adelitas Way was hot as hell. They kept the crowd going with the energy, guitar riffs, and hot looks...I must say this quintet was just f@#*in amazed!! Adelitas Way music has been on the hit series MTV, CSI Miami, WWE Superstars, and Losers! They have toured with Theory of a Deadman, Chevelle, and now Puddle of Mudd. They are also going to be playing Rock On The Range. These guys are going and taking it to the next level of rock and roll. They have an edgy, hard modern rock sound and it's exploding! These guys come from all over such as Philly, West Va., New York, and Kansas City. Well all I can say Rick DeJesus has a great bunch of rockstars to work with.

They are blowin up 98 Rock with the hit single "Invincible" and it has exploded up the charts, scoring them a top 5 record. The new single "Last Stand" is a ballad on the album and the video can be seen on demand with Comcast! There self titled CD is one of the best I have heard in a long time and whatever these guys are doing

they need to keep it up. I had a chance to hang out with these guys after the show and I must say 4 out 5 of them are very extremely friendly, very kind and welcomed me into the fan club, and I was honored to be there. Rick DeJesus, Keith Wallen, Creighton Biggs, Derek Johnston, were awesome. I must say that the drummer Trevor Stafford wasn't that friendly to me. I really can't say anything about Trevor, but only that he is the heartbeat of the band. I tried not one, but a few times and he wanted nothing to do with me, sorry Trevor. I hope the next time I see you we can chit chat as I would love to speak with ya. Well I guess 4 out of 5 is not too bad.

I was talking with Derek (bassist) and apparently he is from the UK (wonder if he was goofing off with that accent, if so it was great). Creighton (guitar) joined the band after the album was completed and WOW just a fantastic musician, he fits right in! I wanna say this, Keith (guitar) has intense backing vocals and amazing energy, you will enjoy any show that this guys plays. I actually thought Keith was a cutie...like a hot teacher with the specks on, like a sexy librarian only in man form. I finally got to meet the man with the voice. Rick has a f@#*in fabulous voice...oh my, let me say that again Oh MY, yes!! A few more things about Rick DeJesus, he's humble, he's funny, and he has the best smile I have ever seen!! The smile hypnotized me seriously and I have the pics to prove it!! I got the honor of doing this interview and he answered every question and I didn't get the cold shoulder for anything. Even the infamous Jonas Brothers question. I was so nervous doing this one I had to get naked to do it, yes naked maybe it was anxiety, I have no clue, but it was one of the best I have ever done. These guys are just getting started with the self titled CD and in the near future we will have a new one!! Love 'em! Can't wait guys, you really got the ROCK and ROLL world by the balls. Check out the interview. You will see for yourself and if you get the chance get your ass to an Adelitas Way show!!

Let's get down and dirty with Rick DeJesus from Adelitas Way:

SW: Did your music career start when you appeared on VH1's Strip Search?
Rick : No! I turned 18 and I just started writing poems and melodies, and then I snuck in to a bar and I did an acoustic night with one of the poems I wrote. I was waiting for somebody to throw a beer at me, but they clapped. That's how I got started. The VH1 thing did not help much, it wasn’t a stepping stone. I believe I am here because of really hard work and dedication from a lot of people.

SW: You grew up in Philly and you were underprivileged, how has your life changed?
Rick: Dramatically! When I was back in Philly, a lot of my friends were getting into drugs, fast money, and selling drugs, they were living that kinda life. Now that I am out here doing music I dedicate all my time to this and my family. I think growing up that way, it helped me write a lot of songs that was kind of telling how I was feeling and what I was going through. The album is a lot of things I went through in my life, and I wouldn't trade anything I've been through for the world. It made me the man I am today.

SW: Would you change anything about your past?
Rick: No, I think that it made me who I am today, with all the situations and experiences. I am very proud of where I am at right now.

SW: What would you tell anyone who has the same love and compassion for music?
Rick: Get ready to work, it's really, really hard!! You are going to be knocked down a lot, but in the end it's worth it.

SW: How do you feel about the Jonas Brother's?
Rick: I think those guys are working hard. I know it's a different style of music then we are. We play hard stuff and we write all of our songs, but I got respect those guys because touring in itself is something you got to be a special kind of person to do. You are away from your family a year at a time. So I respect anyone who does what we do. I think you got to be a tough skinned person. We work our butts off, so I am sure they work just a hard as we do.

SW: Tell me about the Mexico adventure?
Rick: Which one, (laughing). We had about 10 of them. We have been arrested a few times in Mexico, we were on tour with Shinedown. We were crossing at the border where Mexico and El Paso is, and we got stopped. The dogs were going nuts on us and we got locked up in a 4x4 room for about 3 hours. It was a interesting experience. The police officer came in and he knew who we were, and said “oh my god you guy's are Adelitas Way“, you sing that song "Invincible". We thought we were getting out, and we were like yes we’re getting out of here. Then he just asked for our autographs and shut the door back on us. That was not fun!

SW: Creighton is new to the band, how does he fit in Adelitas Way, and what happened to Chris?
Rick: It takes a certain type of person, to be able to do this. Some people begin to miss home, and the road is hard for them. They start to go through an emotional rollercoaster.

SW: What has Creighton brought to the Adelitas Way? Rick: I think both Creighton and Chris brought good things to the band. I think it's just the willingness to be out on the road and to do what we do. It's not an easy job. We are getting ready to gear up and do a 26 hour drive in a van from Walnut Texas to North Carolina. It takes a special kind of person to sit through a drive like that, go play a show and then do it all over again. We pretty much work 24 hours a day. There's no getting sleep, you got to be on it at all times. You got to be ready to play, you can't get sick, it's a very, very hard lifestyle. It's not cut out for everyone. Some musicians think it's going to be all glitz and glamour, that it's going to be riding around in jets, and touring in arena's. We’ve gotten to tour arenas and we got a taste of that through a lot of hard work, but at the end of the day it's a grind, you have to be realistic and grind.

SW: If I were to get in your van, what would I find?
Rick: You would find most of gas station dinners, we eat at a lot of gas stations. You would find a messy van.

SW: How was the tour with Theory of a Deadman?
Rick: You tour with bands like Theory and Three Days Grace, those bands are so big you never know what to expect. You don't know how their personality is going to be. It seems the bigger the bands are, the nicer they are. Theory of a Deadman treated us phenomenal, Three Days Grace were great to us, and Shinedown was great. It makes you love the bands and their music that much more. It's been a great experience for us. It is one of those things when we look back and think "man how cool that they were so nice to us“.

SW: When you are on stage, what do you see?
Rick: The intensity of the crowd, we can tell when the crowd is into it. We feed off the energy of the crowd, even if the crowd is not into it, we still put on our best show!! If the crowd is feeling it and loving it, you will put on a great show. That is the first thing we notice.

SW: What does Adelitas Way have in store for the fans this summer?
Rick: Great things. We are very fortunate. We have a great record label, a great management team. We got a lot of great things up our sleeves. We're going to be touring until June with Puddle Of Mudd, we are going to be doing a lot of festivals, we are going to be at Rock On The Range, and Kansas City Rock Fest. Then we are going out with Halestorm in July. We have been writing our new album, we are going through that process of putting it together. It's going to be a blast!!

trevor is an amazing guy, he is very sensitive, despite what you may see on the outside. just because he wasn't as cooperative as you expected doesn't mean he's not a good kid. i respect him for who he is and i hope you get the privilege to know him as i do.
