HOLY HOLLYWOOD BATMAN!
Happy Spring, Rock n' Rollers! Just got back from L.A. - took the kids for spring break and stayed with our amazing friends Rob and Ali Foxx, (West Coast Rob and Ali). Rob Foxx used to front the band Spine from back in the day, you may remember him? Built like a brick shit-house with a voice like the devil. It was my first visit to Cali, and I truly fell in love with the Los Angeles area. It just so happens that one of my childhood heroes was getting his star on the Hollywood walk of fame while we were there. About fecking time too! The ever majestic crime fighter, the one, the only Batman, Mr. Adam West. At 83-years-old and holding the Guinness World Record for having played Batman more than anyone else in history, there he stood; still charming, still my hero. I got some cool pics; there was a huge crowd of fans, reporters and TV cameras. Seth McFarlane from "Family Guy" gave a great speech about what it's like for him to actually work with his childhood superhero. Adam's acceptance speech was awesome; he's still sharp and witty, claiming that he may also hold the Guinness record for taking the longest to get a star on the walk of fame. THE actual Batmobile was there too, so I was one happy little kid. The hullabaloo started to die down, so we took the kids to the gift shop next door. My son Cam got a movie clapper board, and the owner of the store encouraged me to jump the velvet rope next to his store to get a closer look at Bruce Wayne. So what did I do? I said to myself, "Fack it, what's the worst that can happen? I could get arrested - I don't care - you only live once, when am I ever going to be in this situation again?" I've lived my whole life that way, so why puss out now? There we were, me and Cam, standing right in front of Batman! Cam asked kindly if Adam could please sign his clapper board, then I took a picture of them together and asked Adam for a hug. He obliged and squished his super soft cheek against mine and said in his ever-so-deep, smooth and charismatic voice, "Thank you, my dear". Just then, the officials realized that Cam and I were not supposed to be there, but too late suckers, my dream was accomplished! Unfortunately, we had zero time to catch any shows; Devil Driver and Polkadot Cadaver were playing while we were there. So, after somewhat unpacking, we are leaving again tomorrow for Atlantic City to see our lads Clutch and Hellyeah share the stage! This is sure to be one crazy weekend. I'm also pretty excited to see the "Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson Immortal World Tour" on May 5th. We are surprising our daughter for her birthday, I love MJ. A local show that you will not want to miss will be RQ's band El Grande, Knives Out and Philly's Kingsnake. Such a wicked line up, these lads will be tearing the roof off of Wilcom's Inn in Monrovia, MD on Sat May 12th AND it's a FREE show! One last thing for this month, I read the letter that Axl Rose sent to the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Everyone is slamming him and calling him a douche bag. But I have to say, I agree with him. I thought the letter was well composed and he explained himself and his decision in a very level-headed way. Everyone else seems pissed at his choice to decline being inducted??? He is so right in stating that he would be fecked if he did, and farcked if he did not. If he had accepted, everyone would still be calling him a douche bag. It's obvious that he decided to take the high road and not give the vultures more reasons to rip him apart. Smart move Axl. Cheers AQ! |
