| SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman died of liver failure last month just two years after being forced off the road because of a rare skin tissue disease. It was also revealed that his death was alcohol related cirrhosis. While his band mates had long harboured the hope he would return to their ranks, the 49-year old founding member of the thrash metal legends died at a California hospital. The musician and songwriter had to quit touring with Slayer after being diagnosed with necrotising fasciitis, reportedly from a spider bite, which eats skin tissue. It is not known if the disease played a part in his death. "Tonight one less star will be shining and sadly, the stage got a little bit darker," said Megadeth's Dave Mustaine. Gary Holt of Exodus has filled in for Hanneman for the last two years.
Fans were shocked in Los Angeles when STONE TEMPLE PILOTS made a surprise appearance at a radio festival last month with Chester Bennington of LINKIN PARK making his debut on the mic and leaving fans of both bands pretty much divided but Slash, in attendance at the show, seemed to like it when he tweeted , "On a quick break from interviews, the new STP band sounds great. Really excited for this new line-up!" Bennington later said he was planning doing more touring and recording with STP while remaining in Linkin Park. Original Lead singer Scott Weiland was officially fired from STP in February of this year.

OZZY OSBOURNE is doing "incredibly well" after relapsing into drug and alcohol abuse for 18 months, according to his wife and manager, Sharon. Ozzy admitted he relapsed in a statement on Facebook on April 15th. He wrote: "For the last year and a half, I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was an asshole to the people I love most, my family. However, I am very happy to say I am now 44 days sober. Also, just to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing." Ozzy has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction throughout his forty plus year career. Black Sabbath are set to come out with a new album called "13" on June 11th which is the first new album in 35 years by Ozzy, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler and tour in the summer. Bon Jovi is suggesting that Sambora left due to substance abuse issues that saw him also disrupt a 2011 tour. This is a messy case of he said/he said with no end of it in the near future.

You can tell when you take a look at 'Animal Magnetism'. He shot the cover of 'Lovedrive' in the back of a Rolls Royce owned by Elton John at the time.
